With love affairs, class issues, glamour, great story-telling and social history, Mr Selfridgeis the biggest budget ITV-produced drama of all time. Beginning in 1909, Mr Selfridge follows a colourful cast of characters whose lives and fortunes are entangled with the founder of the magnificent department store. An American retail visionary, Harry Selfridge moved to London in 1906 with his family to build and open the most ambitious department store the world had ever seen. The drama is set at a time when women were revelling in a new sense of freedom and modernity. Harry wanted to indulge, empower and celebrate these women and so opened the doors of his opulent department store on London's famous Oxford Street, changing the way the British shopped forever.

This lavishly illustrated book is the official companion to the series. Written with a foreword by series producer Andrew Davies, the book takes fans on a journey through the world of Harry Gordon Selfridge. Rich with historical detail it explores the man himself, his relationship with his family as well as the store, its departments and changing fashions in the early twentieth century. Complete with hundreds of high quality photographs it takes a closer look at the cast and their characters before looking ahead to series three which will pick up in 1919, the point at which Harry's life really begins to unravel.

'This attractive tome is crammed with interesting nuggets of trivia...Mr Selfridge fans will be lapping up all the details and beautiful pictures while historical buffs will find plenty to sink their teeth into...A lot of thought and effort has clearly been put into the book- and it shows. A fantastic gift for the Mr Selfridge in your life--Heat

Good Companion, as is stated t the series but I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more information or pictures of the Dynamic man himself. I was lucky enough to purchase the ‘Gordon Honeycombe’ book on ‘Selfridges’ on the 75th Anniversary of the store so, I am probably a little spoiled. The information on the originator was interesting but the book is made up of the cast and stills of the sets etc.A good book for the price and beautifully presented and printed.

Really great book with wonderful colour illustrations and lots of information and interesting facts about the show and the era. Well worth buying even if you're not a fan of the series but more a fan of this period in history.

Love this Man, the book is every bit as exciting as the series, gives you a brilliant insight into the people behind the scenes, and also an insight into the life of the real Mr Selfridge.

a beautiful glossy book depicting the detailed history of this world famous store and of Mr. Selfridge's rise from humble beginnings to the great entrepreneur he was to become. this 254 page volume also covers in meticulous detail the challenges in the making of this excellent series to maintain it's authenticity and glamour, especially regarding the changing fashions of the day. a fascinating read together with many interesting comments from the main actors plus gorgeous photographs of the many lavish costumes worn in the series, makes this a 'must have' item for every Selfridge fan.

This is a really interesting book if you're a fan of the series. Shame it doesn't cover all 4 seasons, just the first 2.. There should have been a follow-up volume. I also recommend Lindy Woodhead's "Shopping, Seduction and Mr. Selfidge," on which the series was based and which gives the true story of Selfidge, as well as a social history of his times.
