    Book details

From cult hard rock band to singles chart success, Rainbow was the vision of one man- Ritchie Blackmore. Created following Blackmore's departure from seventies rock giants Deep Purple he produced a spectrum of musical colour that fully reflected the band's name. With an ever changing personnel, Blackmore's freedom from having his own band enabled him to control and steer the group in various directions that ultimately resulted in a string of successful hit singles. Amongst them 'Since You Been Gone', 'All Night Long' and 'I Surrender'.Visions of Rainbow celebrates the colourful lifespan with loads of rare and previously unseen photos of the band, on stage, in the studio, as well as close up and personal, including a section on the often overlooked period in the nineties when Blackmore briefly rejuvenated the band with new personnel, complete with narrative. Beautifully presented as a large format hardback with slipcase, this book is an ideal addition to any true Rainbow fan's collection.

This publication takes the form of a Coffee Table type hard back book full of glossy pictures and accompanying text to put the contents in context.Various colour and black & white photographs covering all era's of Rainbow, from Ronnie James Dio through Graham Bonnet and Joe Lyn Turner up to and including the Doogie White 1995-97 line-up.The book contains great pictures showing the Rainbow stage prop in action, plenty of Ritchie Blackmore, the first Donington Monsters of Rock festival, on stage action from the various line-ups, candid backstage/studio shots...........and the late Jimmy Bain in his Y-fronts!As a band Rainbow has not received that much of this kind of attention over the years, so this publication is most welcome. The hard cover gives the book a deluxe feel that the contents deserve. Most enjoyable - brought back some great memories!
